I am currently unemployed and still have to pay my outstanding bills. AIG and all just make me sick. I am glad to see the downfall of useless financial institutions that have been robbing people for decades. It’s about time. Old energy needs to be disspelled and new energy come in. You get back what you put out. C Crist-Palma Austin Tx

Regarding AIG and Lehman Brothers and the others causing this hurt; for all the damage done to Americans by the voracity for such incredible greed and insensitivity perhaps the most damaging is the lack of recourse afforded to us. This guillitine is well known to Public Citizen as Mandatory Arbitration. When a loan too good to be true is made, well then often the property is as well. When it starts to fall apart and the consumer needs help, the courts shun the owner and the arbitrator works for the lender and the developer. This leads to many dismal financial and credit woes at no fault of the buyer. How do we say no to Mandatory Arbitration when it is – well – Mandatory?
